A camera is to me a tool which lets me show you what my mind sees, my visions.

Born and raised for the most part in Sri Lanka, I was always surrounded by rich natural and cultural diversity. The next turn you make might have a sight to behold. Sri Lanka is truly a magical place where you can be at the top of a mountain peak above the clouds and just a 5 hour drive later, be in the middle of a dessert or next to a pristine beach.

Since I was able to understand the concept of time , I realized I wanted to preserve certain memories to re-live in the future. Photography and videography is the closest we will come to this, as a picture without a single word can say a thousand words. This, paired with how many extraordinary sights Sri Lanka has laid the groundwork to my cinematic journey.

Every single time I see something which grabs my attention, my first instinct is to reach for the closest camera I have and immortalize the scene. Over the years I have watched countless masterpieces of the cinema industry. from Ridley Scott’s 1982 Blade Runner to the most recent Dune films by Denis Villeneuve, these films have nurtured the cinematic machine inside my head.

My first attempt of creating videos was in the form of YouTube videos, when I was 13. Starting from 2017, I shifted my attention to recording landscapes and since then have never had a second thought about recording.

Over the years I have worked on countless projects in a variety of scenarios which has given me a broad understanding and technical know-how on how to utilize equipment to gain the maximum potential out of it.

I am currently an undergraduate at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) studying a bachelor’s degree in IT and expect to graduate in July of 2025.

Whilst I am passionate about IT and everything tech-related, I believe filmmaking is my forte. It is something I am always happy to do and always happy to learn.

Alongside graduating, another goal I have in life is to grow as a filmmaker. I wish to broaden my knowledge and understanding of videomaking to the extent where my work moves people and becomes a source of inspiration or contemplation.

There are movies which have inspired and influenced me to be better. I simply wish to give back what I got.
